Several Professional Learning sessions for Year 9 and 10 History teachers are scheduled for 2023, aligned to the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Serviceperson biography: Guiding your Students' Research
Short afternoon training sessions:
The VMWA will run after-school Professional Learning sessions to build teacher's confidence and skills to complete the Serviceperson Biography Task and/or the Premier's ANZAC Spirit School Prize with their Year 9 and 10 History classes. The sessions will involve; how to read service records and unit diaries, navigating the Australian War Memorial and Trove, plus more.
BYO own device. All sessions are free and located at Memorial Hall, ANZAC House, Torrens Parade Grounds with free parking.

Premier's ANZAC Spirit School Prize "Workshop".
Tuesday 18 April 2023: Free school holiday half-day intensive workshop to complete the Premier's ANZAC Spirit School Prize. Virtual War Memorial staff and historians will be available to provide assistance.

Half-day Professional Learning
Monday 26th June (Week 9) 9:00am - 12:30pm
Increase your knowledge about Australian Military History and participate in a workshop to guide your students to complete a serviceperson biography. Program will involve a lecture from Military Academic, TBA. Followed by workshop: Researching sources to write a serviceperson biography.

Full-day Professional Learning
Term 4
Friday 17th November (Week 5) 9:00am - 3:30pm
Increase your knowledge of Australian Military History. Program will involve 2 morning plenary sessions with lectures from Military Academics TBA. Followed by workshop: Researching sources to write a serviceperson biography. Afternoon excursions with choices between Memorial Tour, State Library, Army Museum, and other museums. TBC.

Bublacowie Military Musuem, Yorketown excursion
Term 3 school holidays during first week, day to be confirmed: 8:30am - 4:00pm.
Return bus from Torrens Parade Grounds to Yorketown for guided tour of the Bublacowie Military Museum. Or self-drive and meet at the museum.
