Amman Raid (First) (World War 1, 22 March 1918 to 30 March 1918)

About This Campaign

This raid had the specific intention of inflicting casualties on the Turkish force and detroying railways.  The ANZAC Mounted Division,  the Imperial Camel Brigade and the British 60th Infantry Division  commenced action on 22 March 1918. The attack on Amman itself commenced on the morning of 27 March with the 2nd Light Horse Brigade, the New Zealand Mounted Rifles and the cameleers providing the attacking force.
