Finding Family
When I was just married, we bought a unit in Cabramatta. One day, for fun, I was looking for family names in the phone book and I came across an Alterator not far from me. I wrote to him and told him who I was. I got an excited phone call and they both came over to see us (Neil lived in Wollongong). We found out how we were related pretty quickly. Neil's father Frederick was my g-grandfather's brother's son. He and his father James had a rift sometime after he was 18 and he went to Longreach, Queensland. He did return once to try and patch things up with his father but they ended up coming to blows and Frederick never went back to Scone again. James cut him out of his will. Since then, there had only been very intermittent contact between the branches. It was so exciting getting to know each other and for a few years we kept in contact. I even attended the son's wedding in Wollongong. THen we lost contact again, sadly.
