Died of Wounds, 25 September 1915 aged 25
Rejected for enlistment the first time, George tried again. The once coach builder, now a farm labourer, left his new wife at home to fight at Gallipoli. He never met his new baby daughter, Gwen. George survived the Battle of Hill 60 where Australian troops bravely picked up the Turk's bombs and threw them back at them, only to be wounded a week later and dying on a hospital ship. He was buried at sea.
