Description	Sandford Street, Mitchell, ACT. (ph: 02 6204 0200). The Ex-Service section is Portion 2 (shown on attached maps), directly to the right hand corner of the main entrance into the cemetery. The Gungahlin Cemetery was opened in 1979 and is extensively landscaped. A large lake and many bird species help create a tranquil and peaceful environment. Separate attractive areas are provided for lawn and monumental burials and for placing ashes. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm and is located within the cemetery grounds (closed on weekends and public holidays). The ACT Public Cemeteries Authority, which reports to the ACT Government through the Minister for Territories and Municipal Services manages this cemetery.
