LOCATION: Birkenhead Naval Reserve, corner of Semaphore Road and Fletcher Road

ORIENTATION: East

DESCRIPTION: A bronze plaque affixed to the face of a granite boulder that in turn is set on a concrete slab, the reverse of the boulder is cut and polished with the title in gold leaf

HMAS Sydney 11 sunk with total loss of 645 Officers and men after engaging and destroying
the German raider Kormoran off the Nth. West Coast of Western Australia.

This memorial commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the end of WW2.
