Description

Wooden Honour Board

Fitted and put together on 30th day of June, 1919

A Bazaar was held in February 1919 to raise funds for a Roll of Honour for the School. Together with a collection and donations raised, sufficient money to have a timber memorial inscribed with 120 names to be placed in the largest classroom before the end of the year.

This board was originally in the Payneham Public School at 374 Payneham Road Payneham. The school closed in 1991. The board remained in the old building which was transferred to the then Payneham Council for use as a Community Centre.

The board was taken down in 2015 from the old school and displayed as a part of a Great War exhibition in the Cultural Heritage Centre of the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters. Following the exhibition it was placed in storage at the Cultural Heritage at 101 Payneham Road St Peters.
