Description | Cobden Presbyterian Church was crowded on Tuesday evening last, the occasion being the unveiling of the Honor Board erected to honor and perpetuate the names of the members of the Church who have responded to the Empire's call. The service, which was an impressive one, was conducted by the Rev. A. Dunn, B.D., of Camperdown, assisted by the Rev. G. T. Lee, of Cobden. The pulpit and church had been appropriately draped with flags of the Allies. The unveiling ceremony was performed by Mr Dunn, who took as his text, Judges v. I8: "They were a people who jeoparded their lives unto death in the high places of the field." Mr Dunn spoke in eulogistic terms of the soldiers, of what they had done and of what the armies were doing. He exhorted his hearers to be cheerful as they saw what the armies were accomplishing to bring about a better world. "There were moments when one almost forgets the pain for joy of what is coming through the pain to the travelling earth. " The Honor Board, which is a handsome one, contains the names of some 33 members of the Church who have enlisted, five of whom unfortunately, have been killed in action or died of other causes.
