Description |
The Boulevard of Honour along Burbridge Road (renamed in 2002 to Sir Donald Bradman Drive) was an initiative to commemorate 50 years since the end of World War Two. Plane trees planted in 1995 for the Adelaide Arrive project along Burbridge Road were the focal point as these were already established along the proposed route from Adelaide Airport to South Road. At the base of each tree are polished black granite memorial plaques set into the pavement honouring those who enlisted in the City of West Torrens for World War 2. There are 479 in all some honouring more than one individual.
"Australia Remembers, 1945-1995" was a program of activities organised by the Federal Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War Two. Read more... |
