RAAF WW2 Crash Site.  On Thursday 1st July 1943 at 1105 hours, an Avro Anson R3518, from 6SFTS crashed 9 miles south of Angaston.

Official: Summary:

The pupil pilot was carrying out sole cross-country exercise and lost control of aircraft while flying in cloud. Machine came out of cloud in a steep diving turn and struck the ground, killing the pilot and wrecking the aircraft. The accident took place over hilly country, with a cloud base of approximately 200 feet.

Eyewitness:

Owner of property; I saw the aircraft come out of the cloud and disappear behind a hill.
