Official: Summary:
Aircraft appears to have hit trees during period of poor visibility. LAC Pott was the only survivor; suffering a broken arm and lacerations.
Eyewitness:
The aircraft was flying in low cloud, visibility was about 100 feet as the aircraft descended slowly to find a land mark for navigation when it crashed at a slight angle into the ground
NB: Pott A.E. completely recovered from the accident but was killed on operations with 2 Squadron on 4th November 1944, his name is listed on Panel 7 of the Northern Territory Memorial.
