Description

A stepped garden on the side of a hill facing Horseshoe Bay. At the top is a wooden entrance, on the first level is a rose garden with a white marble plaque, on the next level are two flagpoles and a paved section to the left, on the level is a donation cairn to the left is a trail guide; at the lower level are the Norfolk Pines and plaques. Each tree has a plaque at its base in memoriam.

Built MANUFACTURED BY: The plaques were purchased by the Port Elliot and Goolwa Council and were affixed by George Brittain to the cement bases made by Jack Rogerson. The plaques were laid in 1970 with the Vietnam plaque added in 1988

Memorial Gardens

During World War 1, Port Elliot was a venue for soldiers

on recreation

The gardens were established as a community project for

use by soldiers on leave.

The memorial trees were planted after the war as

a tribute to local soldier's contribution.
