Type Monument
Description

A sandstone obelisk erected in 1921, with crossed rifles is atop a square base with carved corner pillars, set on a stepped base. Lists 22 names. Underneath is a smaller plaque which reads: Also World War II, listing 3 names. Across the base a small marble plaque reads Erected 1921, A. D.
The rifle slings carved on top of the memorial hang in a natural pattern, unlike on other crossed rifles on Queensland war memorials. The park has large trees and the memorial is always shaded. Behind the memorial is a rare World War I trophy - a Turkish 87mm field gun captured by the Australian Light Horse. Early in 1994 it was relocated from a position under the trees to a shelter shed behind the memorial which became vacant when the park was upgraded with barbecue, large shelter sheds, picnic tables, wheelchair accessible toilet block, and new trees and shrubs. A flagpole is attached to the rear of the shelter shed.
