Bendigo East ANZAC Avenue

Details

Type living
Description

This ANZAC Avenue was planted at the former Bendigo East Primary Primary School to commemorate World War One. The Heritage Council Victoria decided in 2016 that the site was not of historical significance (see report attached) and the trees have all been removed. According to the report, as at 2016, "of the original trees planted, two sugar gums, one red ironbark (possibly a replacement planting), one sugar gum stump and one dead sugar gum remain...It is one of the earliest known school-based avenues of honour in Victoria in which some remnant trees are extant."
