The Cranbourne Avenue of Honour was established on 9 July 1919 to commemorate the local people who served in World War One. The Avenue was originally planted with 59 English oak (Quercus robur) and Portuguese oak (Quercus faginea) trees, but more trees were added over time to commemorate later conflicts. Replacement trees have been planted within the last 10 years. Few plaques remain on the existing trees.
