MEMORIAL: Monument, Anzac Arch 

LOCATION: Off King William Road, originally behind the site of the Adelaide Swimming Complex at the Northeast corner of the Adelaide Railway Station. Access was also gained along Railway Road past the eastern entrance to the Adelaide Railway Station. 

ORIENTATION: Bi-directional  

DESCRIPTION: An ornately designed cement structure, comprising two block pillars spanned by a three-turret, castellated mounted archway. A flagpole is affixed at the top of each of the turrets. On the inner faces of each of the block pillars are two capped Corinthian style pillars. On each outer face below the title are two panels containing effigies of laurel wreaths and foliage. The Arch was painted white with the title, panels and pillar caps in gold paint. It was the first triumphal arch to soldiers erected in the Australian Commonwealth. The Arch was located adjacent to the Cheer Up Hut. The Cheer Up Hut was dismantled after the cessation of hostilities and in the most part relocated at Barmera as the Lady Weigall Hospital in 1922; it became so architecturally degraded that it was eventually replaced by the Barmera District Hospital in 1969
