Southport Anzac Park Memorial Gates

Details

Location Anzac Park, Marine Parade, Southport, Gold Coast - Queensland, Australia
Type memorial_gates
Description

The gates are at the entrance to the Anzac Park, a set of sandstone columns with solid sandstone bases. White plaques are inserted at the front and sides.

The ANZAC Park Memorial Gates were unveiled by the Governor-General Lord Forster in 1922. The gates were erected at the entrance to an Honour Avenue to commemorate the Southport soldiers who died in service or were killed in action during World War One.

The redevelopment of the Southport Broadwater Parklands in 2010 necessitated the removal and relocation of the existing ANZAC Park Gates within the upgraded park.
