East Maitland War Memorial


Location William & Newcastle Streets, East Maitland, Maitland Municipality - New South Wales, Australia
Type memorial

A stone pillar over 3 metres high. On the front face at the top is 1914 - 1919 separated by a wreath. Names of the servicemen are on 3 sides while at the rear are the names of the Mayors during the War. References are made to the following war and a "Australia Remembers" plaque has been attached. A flag pole is placed on either side of the memorial, The Australian Flag on the left and New Zealand Flag on the right.

Opened 25 April 1923 by General George L Lee C.M.G. D.S.O.

Country During This Conflict
3rd September 1939 To 15th August 1945
And Pays Homage To All Australians Who Gave Their Lives
In The Defence Of Their Country And Of The Free World.
We Will Remember Them - Lest We Forget.
