THE AUSTRALIAN ARMY TRAINING TEAMVIETNAMThe Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (The Team) served inSouth Vietnam from 31st July 1962 to 16th December 1972, the longestperiod of continuous active service of any Australian military unit.In this time a total of 1,000 members, of whom 192 were officers, 659 warrant officers, and 147 non commissioned officers, served throughoutSouth Vietnam singly or in small groups in a variety of leadership,training and advisory appointments.For its efforts The Team was awarded two Unit Citations:The United States Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, andThe Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.In addition, individual Team members received a total of 113 awards forgallantry and service, including four Victoria Crosses, and245 United States of America, and 376 South Vietnamese awards.This memorial is dedicated to The Team members who gave their lives,to all Team members who served in South Vietnam, and to the familieswho supported them.
