Description

Roll of Honour, wooden, curved top and bottom, framed each side by two wooden columns in classical style, columns standing proud from honour board.
Lettering in gold throughout. Dates 1914-1918 at bottom of roll with red, white blue and black emblem between, depicting the Union Jack, the Australian flag and the crown. MORTLOCK BROS. LTD at top of board.

Made for Mortlock Bros. Ltd, suppliers of cars, boats and spare parts, showroom situated at the eastern end of Hay St near intersection with Milligan Street. Mortlocks had council leases in Jolimont to store newly imported Japanese cars and a workshop in Tighe St.
Roll of Honour found in cavity of wall of house being demolished in Subiaco (address unknown).

Names of Mortlock employees who were killed, wounded or who served in World War I are listed on the main body of the Honour Roll above the dates of the war, the armistice and the signing of the peace (treaty).
