The members of the Eumundi's Women's Recruiting Committee held a memorial tree planting on 6th October 1917 when six trees (Queensland Banyan) were planted in memory of local heroes who had fallen at the Front. On the 12th October 1918 under the auspices of the Eumundi Women's Patriotic Committee, a further twelve trees were planted by the nearest relatives of the Eumundi heroes who had fallen at the front. The third tree planting ceremony took place on the 23rd August 1919 when a further two trees were planted in Gridley Street making a total of twenty memorial trees planted in Eumundi.
