LEST WE FORGET

On the January 10th January 1920, this site was dedicated as a
Soldiers Memorial Swimming Reserve
by the Minister of Repatriation, the Hon. A E. Anstey
to honour the 54 men of the Gilberton, Medindie and Walkerville
who made the supreme sacrifice
during the Great War 1914 - 1918
Trees were planted and the reserved redeveloped in their honour.

"Only a bundle of letters, is all that we have to see,
but our dear one died for his country, ever lives in our memory.
The letters are right from the trenches, but the hand of the writer lies cold,
but the name on the end of each letter, is written in gold."
