Description

In front of the St Margaret's Anglican Church, the Church of Saint Margaret of Scotland.
 
Lych Gate, inside the gate are four stainless steel plaques; at the lower front right is a white marble foundation stone. Originally, the plaques were made of brass but owing to deterioration over time they were replaced when the gate was totally restored. A Lych Gate is a covered gateway to a church in which a bier (a stand or litter for a body or coffin) is located while the initial part of the burial service is read. From the Middle English era language, Lyche:-body; Yate:-gate.

Dedicated 11 May 1919. Rededicated 11 May 2002.
