Biography contributed

Kathleen Hedger was born in Leichardt NSW on the 26th of June 1915. Pre-war she was employed as a process worker and lived with her parents William and Louisa in Gladesville Sydney.
Kathleen was one of “Mrs Mackenzie’s girls” and transferred from the Women’s Emergency Signal Corps to the WRANS in 1941. She served at HMAS Harman and HMAS Kuttabul before posting to HMAS Magnetic at Townsville in April 1943 as a Leading Telegraphist. She returned to Harman in August 1944 and was promoted to Petty Officer Telegraphist in March 1945. Kathleen was discharged from the WRANS in January 1945.
Post War Kathleen returned to the family home, and her pre-war work as a process worker, living with her parents. She never married and passed away on the 14th of August 1972 at the age of 57. She is buried in Block 7 Row 1 of the Catholic section of Macquarie Park Cemetery Sydney.
