Mrs. W Pinch, of Bolt Street, Long Gully, on Tuesday had the sad news conveyed to her by the Rev. W. H. Holtham that her husband, Private W Pinch, was killed in action somewhere in France on February 1. He was attached to A company 38th Battalion. He was born at St. Just Point, Long Gully, and enlisted in Bendigo. He was well known throughout Bendigo, and was liked by all who knew him by his jovial disposition. He was employed at the United Hustler's and Redan mine before enlisting, and his working mates will regret to hear of his death. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved widow and two children, who now reside at Bolt Street, Long Gully. Private Pinch was a son in law of Mr. Thos. Tozer, 42 Buckley Street, who just recently lost his son, Lance Corporal Fred Tozer in France.
