In October 1915 Thomas deserted and was arrested and imprisoned for six months. He was later permitted to re-embark for overseas on 8 August 1918 with the number 14442. The original discharge of 1 September 1917 was cancelled and his service recommenced from the original enlisment date

Son of John Owens and Mary Owens nee Hunter of Townsvill,  QLD

Husband of Alice Owens nee Grant of Elizabeth Street, Paddington, QLD. Thomas and Alice married on 2 February 1899 in QLD. 

Commenced return to Australia on 23 May 1917 aboard HT Ayrshire disembarking on 19 July 1917 at Sydney for onward travel
