Douglas Bernard Zeigenbein was born on February 4, 1927, in Maclean, New South Wales, Australia. He was the only son of Frederick Julius Zeigenbein (also known as Ziegenbein) and Muriel Amy Zeigenbein (born Dyson). Douglas had a sister named Joan. In 1954, he got engaged to Marjorie Ruth Bernie, the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Bernie from Rockhampton, Queensland. Marjorie and Douglas eventually married, and they had two children: Louise Thomas (born Zeigenbein) and a private son1. Douglas served in the Royal Australian Navy during World War II. He lived in various locations across Australia, including Dawson, Queensland, Herbert, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory. Unfortunately, Douglas passed away in 1985 in Townsville. His contributions to sound and video system setup for school assemblies and special presentations are remembered.
