Jeffrey is but 18 years of age, yet he has been in the navy for 2 1/2 years. Writing from Albany (Western Australia) to his mother; Mrs. Jeffrey, of Ophir street, Golden-square, he said the Sydney was then escorting the Australian Imperial Expeditionary Force. - 17 November 1914
