On Friday evening last a large crowd assembled, at the railway station for the purpose of welcoming home Pte Les. Henderson (son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Henderson, of our town), who had been away for some two years fighting "for King and country”. The train steamed into the accompaniment of "Home, sweet Home," by the Cowra Brass Band. A procession was then formed and marched to the intersection of Kendall Street, where the returned hero was accorded a hearty welcome by Messrs Wordsworth and Todhunter. Pte Henderson returned thanks, and, amidst cheers, was driven to his home by Mr. Wordsworth. Pte Henderson was seriously wounded on several occasions and was also gassed, through which he lost the use of his speech, and he only regained same after reaching Australia.
