Biography contributed by Wendy Semple

I don't have any family involvement with Lance Corporal Wilson, but bought a poppy for Anzac Day in 2015 and when it was sent it had his name attached. So I have done some investigation and it appears Bertie enlisted in 1915 at age 19 and was Killed in Action in 1916 at the age of 21. He was single and came from North Fremantle, Western Australia. I can only image what it was like for his folks when their son died, not getting to find a love of his life, marry and have children. So he died and there ended his lineage. How sad, I imagine a proud Aussie going to war with fear, pride, passion for his country and hoping he would be a lucky one and sail back into Fremantle after the war. RIP Bertie Barrington Robert Wilson.
