John Thomas Huckle Family History

John Thomas Huckle served with the 1st Infantry Battalion from Australia and died in the 1st WW in Belgium on 3 Oct 1917. John's Parents were John Huckle Snr from Cambridge, England and Cora Carney an Aboriginal woman from Euabalong, NSW. John was born 27 July 1893, he was raised in went to school in Euabalong and went on to become a rural worker in the area.

John is the second eldest child in the Huckle family. His older sister Edith Matilda Carney (used the name Matilda Huckle) was born before the marriage and a child who was deceased before John’s birth. Cora, also had Mary (Stillborn) and Elizabeth (All listed as Huckles').

Cora had 12 Children altogether, 5 Huckle children and 7 other children to Edward Duncan. Altogether 4 stillborns and 3 who died in infancy. John’s sister Elizabeth was the only sister that survived from the Huckle family and his half sisters Ellen Russell nee Carney, Mabel Christian nee Carney who survived from the Carney line.

John Huckle Snr worked at Booberoi Station, and it is highly likely that John Thomas followed in his footsteps as a rural worker as his father gave this information to the Honour Roll of Australia after his death.
