Flight Sergeant Leslie William Hunter (Service No:46351) enlisted in the RAAF on 29 January 1942. He started as an Aircraftman I, mustered as a Postal Clerk and progressed through the ranks to Flight Sergeant on 1 December 1944. Flight Sergeant Hunter served with 54 Squadron and was with 81 Wing HQ in Iwakuni, Japan in February 946, 381 Squadron in Bofu, Japan in April 1946 and attached to HQ BCAIR Japan from 30 October 1946 to 13 October 1947. Flight Sergeant Hunter was Discharged on 3 December 1947.

Born in 1906 in Fremantle WA, Leslie was the eldest of five chilldren of William Howie Hunter (b1882 in Ceduna, South Australia) and Mary Elizabeth Hicks (b1883 in Fremantle, WA). William (a Storeman) and Mary married in 1903 in Beaconsfield WA and settled in Fremantle where they raised their family and William was a Storeman.

Les started work with the Civil Service as a Postal Officer and worked in Geraldton and Northam prior to his enlistment. Following his Discharge, Les returned to Fremantle and employment with the Civil Service as a Postal Officer. In 1950 he married Marie Elizabeth (b1926) and they settled in Fremantle WA. Leslie died in 1979 and Marie in 2013.
