Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Daughter of James FREEBAIRN, 'Kikup' Parks, NSW

On discharge Grace was living at "Kikup" Parkes, NSW

On her file she reports the following - For several years I was associated with Lorna Byrne (now Major in A.N.A.S.) in organising and conducting Girls' Leadership Camps.  These camps were run by the Agricultural Bureau of NSW to encourage country girls in organisation, public speaking & discussion groups in conjunction with physical training and home management so that they would be better able to take a useful place in the locatl community.  Prior to enlistiment in the W.A.A.A.F. I was on the organising committee of the Women's Land Army.

Her file also gives the following remarks about Grace - This officer has a pleasant personality, is a good mixer in the Mess, and respected by her fellow officers.  She has shown considerable improvement in her work during the last six months and is fit to take greater responsibility. Possesses a pleasant disposition and is popular with her fellow airwoment.  Tall, dark, good looking, well spoken and is interested in the welfare of the W.A.A.A.F.

Married jack Awlyn BARTLEY

In 1986 Grace applied for her war medals and was living at 106 Lora Street, Dungog, NSW
