Son of Alfred Upton and Isabella Upton nee Thomson of Footscray, Victoria

Husband of Jean Upton nee Lindsay of Sterling Street, Footscray, Victoria. Alfred and Jean married during 1915c in Victoria. 

Apprenticed to A.W. McColl of Footscray, Victoria for three years.

26 May 1915 - enlisted at Melbourne with the 13th Light Horse Regiment with the rank of Private.

Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal
