Private George Lindsay Wray Paine (Service No:V77635) enlisted in the ACMF on 20 August 1940 and was a Driver attached to AASC. Private Paine was Discharged on 20 January 1943. Siblings Vere and Walter also served in WWII.

Born in 1917 in Williamstown, Melbourne Victoria, George was the eldest of three children of George Alexander Paine (b1895 in Williamstown, Melbourne, Victoria) and Hilda Mavis Boyd (b1894 in Melbourne, Victoria). George Snr (a Cartage Contractor) and Hilda married in 1915 in Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and George Snr was a Cartage Contractor and, in the 1930's a Councillor.

George worked for his father's Cartage Company as a Truck Driver and in 1942 in Melbounre married Olive Catherine Pearce (1921 in Melbourne, Victoria). George and Olive settled in Newport where George was a Cartage Contractor/Carrier. He died in 1958 after falling off his cattle truck - although he had no visible injuries, he died at home shortly afterwards from a heart attack. Olive died in 1990.
