Edward was the youngest of twelve children of George Thomas Willey (b1849 in Canooldeyup, WA) and Mary Anne Watkins (b1854 in York, WA). George (a Farmer) and Mary married in 1871 in Gilgering WA and settled in Beverley WA where they raised their family. The children were orphaned when Mary died in 1902 and George in 1906.
Edward was raised by his older siblings following his parents' deaths, and sister Ada Slape (nee Willey) was listed as his NoK when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916 - he was a Mill hand in Cannington WA when he enlisted. Edward was a Private (Service No:5217) and was WiA in France in 1917 - Shell Gas Poisoning. In 1918 in Dartford, Kent Edward married Dorothy Laura Alderton (b1901 in India) - Dorothy was a Machinist at a Munitions Factory.
Following his Discharge in 1919, Edward and Dorothy settled in Perth WA and raised their family. Edward worked as a Labourer and Packer, and in 1940 enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:W243379). His name is listed on his Service Papers as 'Albert Edward' - Edward was attached to Provost Coy when he was Discharged in December 1943.
Edward died in 1956 and Dorothy in 1965.
