Private William George Cloke (Service No:W54111) served in the Militia prior to enlisting in the ACMF on 5 March 1942, serving on a part time basis with Bulk Issue Petrol and Oil Depot (BIPOD) until Discharge.
Bill was born in Fremantle, Western Australia in 1908, sixth of eight children of Peter George Cloke (b1875 in Warracknabeal, Victoria) and Emma (Emily) Winzer (b1877 in Warrnambool, Victoria). Peter was a Telegram Messenger and Telegraph Clerk in Warrnambool before he and Emily moved to Fremantle, Western Australia in 1897. The couple settled in Fremantle, where they raised their family and Peter joined the GPO Fremantle, initially as a Letter Carrier and then as Mail Overseer.
Bill worked as a Clerk in Fremantle, where in 1935 he married Alice Maud Casserley (b1911 in North Fremantle, Western Australia). Bill and Alice settled in Fremantle, where they raised their family and Bill was a Clerk until retirement in the 1970s. Alice died in 1991 and Bill in 1996.
