Private Arnold Gilbert Marks Snr (Service No:V353014) served in the ACMF with 8th Battalion VDC (Vic) from 5 April 1942 to 20 September 1945 (Part Time Duty).

Arnold was born in Nhill, Victoria in 1890, only child of Richard Thomas Marks (b1863 at Port MacDonnell, South Australia) and Florence Isabella Wilkey (b1866 at Hope Valley, South Australia). Richard (a Saddler) and Florence married in 1889 in Ovingham, South Australia and moved to Nhill, Victoria where Florence died in 1890. Richard remarried in 1892.

Arnold worked as a Saddler in Wallaura, Victoria and in 1914 in Melbourne married Elsie May Congdon (b1890 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Elsie was a Machinist in Melbourne. Arnold and Elsie lived in Wallaura and Koroit where they raised their family and Arnold was a Saddler. Following Elsie's death in 1949, Arnold retired to Portland where he died in 1955.
