Percival left Adelaide on board the Seeang Bee on 13 July 1916. His wartime
experience was brief due to the fact that after being sent to France with his
unit late 1916, he was hospitalised at Etaples on 23 February 1917 and
diagnosed with neuritis – the inflammation of a nerve and associated
paralysis. Consequently, he was sent home to Australia on the Runic on 10
May and discharged as medically unfit on 1 August. Percival died on 24 June
1950.
