Cecil Triba (sometimes spelt Tribe) Knight (1881 - 1947), cordial manufacturer and soldier, was born on the 4th of June, 1881, in Clare, South Australia and grew up in Port Pirie, South Australia. His parents were Barrington John Knight and his father's second wife, Elise Mary Allen. He was half brother to Lional Barrington Knight, and full brother to Clarence Burton Knight, Hirell Julia Knight, Muriel Grant Knight and Garda Isabelle Knight. He married Marion Gertrude White on the 14th of September, 1909, in St John Church, Adelaide. His first child, daughter Constance Mary Knight was born in 1910, soon followed by his second daughter, Dora Gertrude Knight, born in 1911.

He enlisted for war on the 11th of August, 1915, when he was aged 34, and was promoted to the rank of Major the same day.
