Jessie was the daughter of Robert Roberts and Jessie Ellen Roberts nee McDonald.
Jessie enlisted as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service on 30.5.1940. Promoted to Sister 12.1.1941. Lieutenant (AIF) 23.3.1943 and Captain 16.8.1943. Discharged 15.9.1943.
Married Major Reginald Lloyd Ballantine in 1944.
