Colin Wentworth Stiff
Colin, (my pop) married my grandmother Leata Stiff and lived at Mount David and Rockley NSW managing properties. As a young boy I spent many a holiday there and last year drove to Bathurst to see if I could find the homestead we stayed at. We found it and it hadn’t changed in over 50 years. The property is called Toondullie, and we were fortunate to meet the man who who lived there who went on to tell us all about Colin and Leata who his father had employed.
I now have Colin’s service records and didn’t realise how much of the war he had seen. His grave is at Bathurst Cemetery but we were not able to find out who had organised his plaque. Neither the cemetery or the local RSL could help us. Had some great times Colin, he was a great man and we miss him dearly.
