Private Reginald Harry Jackman (Service No:T16195) served in the ACMF from 17 June 1942 to 25 March 1943 with 107 Independent Brigade Workshop and General Details Depot. Private Jackman was attached to General Details Depot (DDD) at Discharge (Medically Unfit).
Reg was born in Launceston, Tasmania in 1909, fifth of seven children of Townley Jackman (b1876 in Rothesay, New Zealand) and Florence (Florrie) Edith Howard (b1875 in Christchurch, New Zealand). Townley (a Dairyman) and Florrie married in Wellington, New Zealand in 1898, and by 1902 had moved to Tasmania, where they settled and raised their family. Townley held a number of jobs - Hawker in Mersey, Tea Merchant and Fruiterer in Launceston (where Florrie was a Storekeeper), Carrier in Beaconsfield and Fisherman and Labourer in Hobart, including at Blackman's Bay.
Reg was working as a Storekeeper in Hobart in 1931 when he married Hilda May Broderick (1910 in Hobart, Tasmania). Reg and Hilda settled in Hobart, where they raised their family and Reg was a Shopkeeper and later a Mechanic. Hilda died in 1989 and Reg in 1998.
