Add my storyBiography contributed by Claire Duckworth
Kevin's father had died when he was 9 years old and had been working from the age of 14. So in his eyes he was a grown up, helping his mother to raise his three younger siblings.
Kevin first enlisted for WW2 - 10 Dec 1941, at Royal Park, Melbourne, Victoria, aged 16. After 488 days, 363 in active service, he was discharged on 7 Apr 1943, due to 'having made a false answer on attestation in regard to his age'.
On discharge he stated he would be back once he turned 18.
Five days after his 18th birthday he enlisted again at Royal Park and served 766 days of which 139 were spent in Borneo, with 2/25 Australian Infantry Battalion.
Kevin formed lasting friendships from his active service and enjoyed catching up with his mates after the annual ANZAC day parade.
He died aged 40 leaving his wife and three daughters behind.
