rough history
William Peter Poole (Peter) joined up and was training to be a wireless operator at puckapunyal . Before enlisting Peter worked for the Postal Service. Once discovered that Peter could do Morse code he was asked if he would join a volunteer group of the army that was to be highly secretive. He transferred to Z special Unit and was trained over the years and at some stage on Frazer Island. He served in Darwin and Timor gaining information on the Japanese movements and strengths on the Island.
He was a qualified parachutist as well as trained in demolition, sabotage, seafaring and surveillance.
19 when enlisted, 24 when discharged.
