Private Colin Brookes Rose (Service No:WX16753) initially enlisted in the RAAF (Aircraftman II; Service No:406539), attending Wireless and Gunnery Schools (WAGS) before Discharge as a Leading Aircraftman attached to Bomb and Gunnery School on 20 August 1941. Private Collins served with the Army from 29 September 1941 to 5 January 1942 when he was Discharged as Medically Unfit. He had served three years with the Militia - 10th Light Horse Regiment.

The second of five children, Colin was born in 1919 in Bunbury WA to Thomas Leopold Rose (b1883 at Parkfield, Australind, WA) and Dorothea Brooks Wilson (b1897 in Guildford, WA). Thomas (a Farmer) and Dorothea married in 1917 in Bunbury, WA and settled at Burekup where Thomas was a Farmer until his death in December 1927 - he was killed when his car was hit by a train at a level crossing. Dorothea was left a Widow with five sons under the age of nine years - all five sons served in WWII.

Colin was a Farmer when he enlisted for service in WWII - with the RAAF and then AIF. In 1946 in Bunbury WA, Colin married Margaret June Robinson (b1925 in Burekup, WA) - known as June; June served in the ACMF in WWII. Colin and June settled in Burekup where they raised their family and Colin was a Farmer. Colin died in 1971 and June in 2009.
