Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Leslie Ralph Hopkins was the son of Henry and Euphemia Hopkins, of Camberwell, Victoria. His father had passed away in 1903, when Leslie was about nine years of age.
His younger brother was decorated for bravery as a stretcher bearer; 127 Sergeant Edwin Swan Hopkins M.M. served with the 14th Field Ambulance and was returned to Australia in October 1918, on ‘special 1914’ leave.
Leslie arrived in Egypt in December 1915. He took part in the 5th Division’s attack at Fromelles and was one of the many Australians who lost their life.
He at least had a grave in the Eaton Hall Military Cemetery and was later relocated to the Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery.
