Private Annie Victoria Allan (Service No:V345355) enlisted in the Army on 19 May 1942 and was posted to Recruits Training School No 7 as a Clerk. Private Allan served in Darwin NT (13 November 1944 - 29 October 1945) with District Accounts Office NT and was attached to Australian Army Pay Corps at Discharge on 13 November 1945.
Annie was born in Horsham, Victoria in 1909, sixth of eight children of Albert Felix Allan (b1867 in Hamilton, Victoria) and Penual Grant Allan (b1876 in Pimpinio, Victoria). Albert (a Farmer) and Penual married in 1897 in Kenmare, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Albert was a Farmer until his death in 1939.
Annie was living at home engaged in 'Home Duties' and 'war work, and teaching Sunday School when she enlisted in the Army. Annie was described by one of her referees (NAA) as 'Blessed with a pleasant disposition and much natural ability, she has proved herself an able war worker in the district and she would, if given the opportunity, acquit herself creditably in any department of Women's Auxiliary Service'. Following her Discharge, Annie settled at Kanagroo Flat, Ballarat where she worked as a Cook and Proprietress, conducting a business with her sister Flo. Annie died in 1998.
