Private Gwendolyn Mibus (Service No:NF461559) served in the Army (AWAS) from 8 June 1943 to 16 November 1945 with 2 Australian Signals Training Battlaion and 5th Australian Base Ordnance Depot (BOD).
Gwen was born in Sydney, NSW in 1922 to William Henry Andersen (b1900 in Bundaberg, QLD) and Violet Victoria Andersen (b1901 in Sydney, NSW). William was a Seaman serving ith the RAN when he and Violet (a Milliner) married in 1920 in Sydney, NSW. William had enlisted in the RAN in 1916 as a Boy (Service No:5605) and served on HMAS Tingara, Penguin, Margeurite, Mallow, Cerberus and Brisbane, and was a Leading Seaman at Discharge in 1925. William and Violet settled in Sydney where William worked as a Labourer until retirement in the mid 1960s when they moved to Portland, Victoria.
Gwen worked as a Machinist in Sydney before enlisting in the AWAS. In 1945 in Sydney she married Theodor (Ted) Mibus (b1922 in Hamilton, Victoria) - Ted was in the Army (Service No:VX113268). Following Discharge, Gwen and Ted settled in Portland where they raised their family and Ted worked as a Contractor. Gwen died in 2006 and Ted in 2008.
