Private Francis Norman Senier (Service No:WX2472) enlisted in the Australian Army on 26 April 1940 and was attached to 4th Reinforcements 2/11th Battalion, transferring to Australian HQ Guard Battalion on 22 November 1941. Private Senier embarked on 22 September 1940 from Fremantle WA bound for Palestine on board HMAT 53. Following service in Greece, Private Seneir embarked from the Middle East on board the Queen Mary 'on special duties' (National Archives Australai) on 5 May 1941 bound for Sydney. Private Senier was Discharged on 22 November 1941.
Born in 1906 in London England, Francis was the youngest of five children of Thomas William Senier (b1867 in London, England) and Ellen Ada Clark (b1867 in London, England). Thomas (a Travelling Salesman) and Ada married in 1893 in London where they raised their family and Thomas worked as Metal Manufacturer's Agent.
Francis was a Motor Mechanic when he emigrated in 1929, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Barradine. He worked in Greenmount WA as a Labourer before going to Bunbury in the mid 1930s where he worked as a Fitter's Assistant. By 1937 Francis had returned to Greenmount and was a Golf Links Proprietor before working as a Prospector in Mt Morgan, WA. In 1940 Francis married Iris Lambert Hunter (b1910 in Cottelsoe, WA) - Iris had worked in Greenmount as a Beauty Salon Representative before going to Bunbury in the mid 1930s where she worked as a Hairdresser.
Following his Discharge, Francis and Iris lived in Greenmount WA where Francis was a Munitions Worker before becoming a PMG Technician which required him to travel and work around the State. Francis died in 1977.
